Venice is Empty
Where have all the tourists gone? I haven't seen Venice like this since my first professional gig twenty five years ago, which was a month in La Serenissima with Claudio Abbado and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.......

jenna, yes we did! we shared a piece and it was a marvel! we are cooking at home mostly (no restaurants for us this year) and i have just made variation two (silver spoon cookbook)of the radicchio lasagne. they have the treviso type here - sweet and meaty!! yum!
Gawd, the beauty. You really do take wonderful photos.
My best time in Venice was a January. Nothing so magic as entering St. Marks Square at 0700, to find I had it alone with some pigeons.
I am shivering with excitement from the sight of that torta. Oh-oh, maybe needs to go to torta anonymous. Thanks for the Silver Spoon tip, as well as expanding my knowledge of radicchio.
I'm very impressed with your frugality! i hope you both enjoy the remainder of your trip. I wonder how one makes that torte....was it more of a cake consistency or more creamy?

Wow, gorgeous photos! My wife and I were in Venice the last week of November and we must have taken hundreds of photos.
