As ever, green with envy (mmm, what would I make with those figs? Oh well, I do have some green lentils in the larder). But I was just in Japan where I heard Cicadas at a level I had never experienced before. Trees were alive with a sound that made me want to both, dance with glee, or stand silent in awe of the mystery.

hi!
I found your blog via postcards from provence, brilliant reading for me, as i am an artist also in france (cote d'azur) i smiled when i saw the white figs, i had them in my first garden 14 years ago, and three seasons past as i waited each year puzzled as to why they always dropped to the ground before they ripened to purple... felt like such an idiot when i found out and tried hard to make up for it by making copious quantities of caramelised fig jam, fig tarts, bacon wrapped grilled figs etc.

Just found your blog and am enchanted. Haven't been there for several years. Will have to return. Several people here in Maine often go in the winter. Do you have a way to see all of your photos? Cheers, Susan
